Privacy Policy for ProjectAble

Overview

ProjectAble ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

We do not collect, transmit, or share your personal data, with one exception: if you choose to use the optional AI Commentary feature, limited project data is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) solely to generate that commentary. This feature is off unless you actively use it, and is described in full below.

Data Collection

ProjectAble stores all your information using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your data is stored on your device and synced via your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to your data, and it is never transmitted to our servers.

The one exception is the optional AI Commentary feature, described in the next section — when you actively choose to use it, limited project data is sent to our AI provider to generate that commentary. No other feature in the app transmits your data anywhere.

AI-Generated Report Commentary

ProjectAble includes an optional feature that generates a short, natural-language commentary for your project reports, powered by Anthropic's Claude API. This feature is entirely optional and only runs when you tap "Generate Report with AI Commentary" — it is never triggered automatically, and the standard PDF report (without AI commentary) remains available at all times without sending any data anywhere.

When you use this feature, the following project data is sent to Anthropic to generate the commentary:

Project name and overall status (RAG)
Cost and schedule performance figures (CPI, SPI, budget, forecast figures)
Counts of open RAID items, by type, and overdue items

We deliberately keep this to the minimum needed to generate a useful commentary. We do not send your name, sponsor names, RAID item descriptions, or any other identifying or free-text content.

As of version 2.1.3, the project sponsor's name is not included in the data sent to Anthropic. In version 2.1.2, the sponsor's name was included in this data; this has been removed as a privacy improvement.

How Anthropic handles this data:

Anthropic does not use API data to train its models
Anthropic automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, except where retention is required to comply with law or to prevent misuse of its services
We do not currently have a Zero Data Retention agreement with Anthropic; if this changes, we will update this policy

Information You Provide

When using ProjectAble, you may enter:

Project and sub-project information
Budget and financial data
Cadence period performance actuals
RAID log items

All of this information:

Stays on your devices only (iPhone, iPad, Mac if you have multiple devices)
Is not accessible to us
Is not sent anywhere else, with the sole exception of the limited data described in "AI-Generated Report Commentary" above, and only when you actively use that feature

Device Backups

If you use iCloud or iTunes to back up your device, your ProjectAble data may be included in those backups. These backups are managed by Apple and are subject to Apple's privacy policies.

Third-Party Services

ProjectAble does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party service ProjectAble communicates with is Anthropic's Claude API, and only for the optional AI Commentary feature described above.

Children's Privacy

ProjectAble does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for professional project management and is not directed at children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
